New Victorian Well Feature
A few weeks ago we put in place our latest feature on the show garden, a complete part victorian well head, as you can see by the image it also came complete with all of it’s tiled roof! Weighing in at just under 3 tons it took a few hours to get into place. There is a purpose built well underneath made from forest of dean stone which is lined and will hold water, the well head also came with the original bucket made from oak and steel banding made by a barrel cooper, the bucket will be re-attached to the old chain and will also be displayed.
A different national charity will be picked every year to take advantage of monies raised over 3 main shows, members of the public who visit the show garden can make a donation wish at the well over the show period.
This years charity is Horatio’s Garden They are a national charity creating and nurturing beautiful gardens in NHS spinal injury centres to support patients, their families and friends facing long stays in NHS hospitals, we look forward to working with them over the coming year.
It is so satisfying to take a feature that would have been dismantled and forgotten and give it a whole new lease of life!!!
